SUMMER AT ST. STEPHEN'S
It is good to give thanks to the LORD,
to sing praises to your name, O Most High;
to declare your steadfast love in the morning,
and your faithfulness by night,
to the music of the lute and the harp,
to the melody of the lyre.
For you, O LORD, have made me glad by your work;
at the works of your hands I sing for joy.
Psalm 92: 1-4
The children are out of school and vacation days are soon upon us. A more leisurely pace is welcome by everyone, and I pray for God’s traveling mercies for those who will be spending time away from home. As I’ve said on occasion, God never goes on vacation, so I hope you’ll find a place to worship every Sunday and give thanks and praise to the Creator for all the gifts of life.
At St. Stephen’s our weekly worship services continue throughout the summer, albeit in different formats and one changed venue. Please take a few moments to review the schedule of special worship events we’ve lined up for the summer. Click here for schedule.
In addition to our Annual Worship Service and Picnic in Perkasie Park (July 18, 10:30 a.m.) and Vacation Bible School Sunday led by the children (July 25), I want to highlight the plans we have for a Special Organ Presentation on August 8th in the 9:30 worship service. Our guest organist will be Anton Doornhein, a master organist from the Netherlands. Click here for his biography. The Consistory has dedicated this service in honor of Jean Dager, St. Stephen’s organist of 58 years. Isn’t she an exemplar of one who has faithfully sung God’s praises to the music of the organ!
I encourage each of you to be faithful in worship this summer, giving God the praise and glory due his name.
For you, O LORD, have made me glad by your work;
at the works of your hands I sing for joy.
Blessings,
Pastor Janet
