St. Paul’s UCC began its own Relay for Life Team early in 2006, at the suggestion of a new Consistory member who is a cancer survivor. We pulled things together pretty quickly for the 2006 Relay, with 26 persons participating, and raised a total of $4,000 for the American Cancer Society. Fundraising activities included a Yard Sale, Partylite Candle sales, basket raffles, and individual sponsorship.
About the time of the 2006 relay, one of our young congregants was diagnosed with leukemia. She has done very well with treatment, and her illness spurred the team to new heights. Forty-three individuals participated on the 2007 Relay Team, raising a total of $8,858. Fundraising activities included last years events, and “Ribbons for Gracie,” “Canines for the Cure,” “Dimes Make A Difference,” and a knitting group which met weekly to make scarves to sell, and seashell painting at the Relay.
For additional information, or to join us in our relay efforts, please contact Sandy Moore (610-326-2888) or Tamara Chomnuk (610-970-9464) our team captains.
